1st Semester Final
WELCOME TO ICS!
You
must pass two full years of science in order to graduate.*
Two years
of laboratory science are required to graduate from
any California high school. This is your first. Aim
high. Listen carefully. Take notes. Do your work.
You will learn and continue developing skills that will
prepare you for your future.
We look forward to an
exciting year of learning in the 4 different sciences.
We start with
Earth Science. Standards are available by following
the link below. |

| Will
there be homework? |
| There
will be homework every night. You will write a brief
reflection about how each day's classwork helps
you understand the standard we are focusing on. |
| Will
there be tests? |
Of
course! And you will learn the art of test taking.
It involves logic, reasoning, providing evidence
for your ideas. Analyzing new vocabulary words,
learning to read maps, charts, graphs, data tables....
You will be challenged daily to think critically
so you can succeed on standardized tests.

| Are there extra credit opportunities? |
| You
can earn extra credit by your classroom participation,
cooperation, asking good questions, taking the lead,
keeping your word, etc. You can also write reports
on news articles or topics of interest (see me for
guidance before you start your work). |
